The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that I-75 construction will result in reduced speeds and lane restrictions beginning south of Southwell Boulevard (Exit 59) in Tift County to south of SR 32/Jefferson Davis Highway (Exit 78) in Turner County.
The Contractor has finished milling and paving the emergency lane and gores of Interstate 75 North and is scheduled to begin resurfacing the outside (right) lane this weekend. Milling is the removal of the top layer of asphalt and is done to create a level surface on which to lay new asphalt. This type of work requires favorable weather so rain will affect the schedule.
The contractor is resurfacing 18.8 miles of the roadway and off- and on-ramps beginning south of Southwell Boulevard in Tift County and ending south of state Route 32 in Turner County. All the northbound lanes will be resurfaced before work moves to the southbound side of I-75.
The work will take place Sunday, June 5, weather permitting. The contractor is working from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday to minimize traffic interruptions.
