Permanent Traffic Shift on Georgia I-75 Requires Lane Closures and Detour

The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that weather permitting, a permanent mainline shift of I-75 Southbound traffic and a temporary shift of the I-75 Southbound exit ramp at Windy Hill Road (Exit 260) will take place to allow for continued bridge and roadway construction within the NWC project corridor.

Multiple lane closures and the detouring of mainline I-75 Southbound traffic will be required to install these shifts.

Local law enforcement will be utilized for traffic control to maximize safety. Motorists traveling through this work zone should expect major delays and to avoid the area if possible as the contractor facilitates this traffic shift. Motorists are also reminded to pay special attention to law enforcement, traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the area.

WHEN: Friday, June 10th during the off-peak hours of 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a rain date of Saturday, June 11th.

WHERE: Rolling closures in the three inside left lanes between Delk Road and Windy Hill Road are expected to take place between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. A single left lane closure between S. Marietta Parkway and Windy Hill Road will begin at 8:00 p.m. and expand into a triple left lane closure by 10:00 p.m. The triple lane closure will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. From 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. additional lane closures maybe necessary to finalize traffic control devices.

Between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., I-75 Southbound traffic will be detoured to exit and re-enter the interstate via the I-75 ramps at Delk Road (see detour map).
