Naples Area Insider TipsThe Inside Scoop From Seasoned I-75 Travelers
Alligator Alley Tolls & No Services: Once you enter the 78-mile stretch east of Naples (mile marker 101), there are ZERO services until you reach the Fort Lauderdale side. Fill up on gas and use restrooms before entering. Bring cash or SunPass/E-ZPass for tolls.
Speed Traps: FHP heavily patrols this section, especially near Collier County exits. Stick to 70 mph or you'll likely get pulled over - they have aircraft monitoring too.
Wildlife at Dawn/Dusk: Panthers, bears, and especially alligators cross I-75 regularly in this area. The stretch between Naples and Fort Lauderdale is particularly dangerous at sunrise and sunset. Stay alert and don't swerve suddenly if you see wildlife.
Afternoon Thunderstorms (Summer): May-September brings intense afternoon storms around 2-4 PM. Visibility can drop to near-zero instantly. Pull over safely if you can't see, and don't use cruise control on wet roads.
