I-75 Bay City Rest Area Closing September 2 for a Complete Rebuild

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be spending $3.9 million to rebuild and improve the Bay City Rest Area on southbound I-75 in Bay County. Work includes completely rebuilding the rest area facility as well as utility work, ramp grades and site work.

The parking lot and facility will be closed for the entire duration of this project.

Rebuilding the rest area will provide travelers with safe and reliable facilities along the I-75 corridor in Bay County. Construction is expected to begin Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with a completion date of May, 2026.
