Long-Term I-75/I-71 Closures Begin Late June as Part of Brent Spence Bridge Project

Brent Spence Bridge | I-75 Exit Guide

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that Interstate 75/I-71 and W. 6th Street/U.S. 50 ramp closures will begin next month as preparations continue for Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project work. Temporary and permanent ramp closures and detours will begin on or after Sunday, June 28. Closure dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions. Detour routes will be in place for each affected closure, and these include:

Eastbound W. 6th Street/U.S. 50 ramp to W. 2nd Street

  • Closure date: On or after Sunday, June 28, beginning at 10:00 p.m. for ramp demolition and temporary pavement.
  • Location: Eastbound W. 6th Street/U.S. 50 off-ramp to W. 2nd Street.
  • Detour: Traffic will exit at Freeman Avenue, turn left on Freeman Avenue, continue onto W. Mehring Way, then turn left on Elm Street.
  • This ramp will close permanently and will be replaced with a new ramp to 3rd. A temporary ramp to 3rd Street will be in place by this fall.

I-75 Southbound ramp to W. 2nd Street

  • Closure date: On or after Monday, June 29, beginning at 11:00 p.m. for ramp demolition and installation of temporary pavement.
  • Location: Exit 1A I-75 Southbound off-ramp to W. 2nd.
  • Detour: Traffic will take Exit 1C to W. 5th Street, then turn right on Race Street.
  • This ramp will close permanently and will be replaced with a new ramp to 3rd, with access to 2ndStreet. A new temporary ramp to 3rd Street will be in place by this fall.

I-71 Northbound ramp to W. 2nd Street

  • Closure date: On or after Tuesday, June 30, beginning at 11:00 p.m. for ramp demolition.
  • Location: Exit 1A I-71 Northbound off-ramp (0.4 mile point) to W. 2nd.
  • Detour: Traffic will take I-75 Northbound to Exit 1C W. 5thย Street, then turn right on Race Street.
  • Reopening: Northbound exit ramp reopens fall of 2028.
