Cracks, raveling and other road deficiencies that create a rough ride on Interstate 75 in Turner and Crisp counties will be eliminated with a resurfacing project scheduled to begin Sunday night.

The project begins south of Exit 84/SR 159 in Turner County and ends north of Old Hatley Road in Crisp County, a distance of 14.47 miles. It includes ramps. Contractor Reeves Construction Co. plans to start on the northbound right (outside) shoulder around milepost 84 in Turner County, which will require closing the right lane.

No daytime lane closures will be permitted during the project. Single lane closures will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and double lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. At this time the contractor plans to work Sunday through Thursday, though that schedule is subject to change. Weather will also impact the schedule.

Resurfacing is not expected to begin on the southbound lanes until the northbound lanes are complete. The $19.2 million Georgia Department of Transportation project is expected to be finished April 30, 2019. This portion of I-75 hasn’t been resurfaced since a widening/reconstruction project was completed in 2003.
