The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that motorists traveling eastbound U.S. 50 (Sixth Street Viaduct) to I-75 South will see a new traffic pattern in effect, as the ramp to southbound I-75 has been closed as part of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project.
The ramp, which is one of the many connections in Ohio that will be overhauled as part of the project, will be closed through January 2027.
To support the ramp closure, the lanes on I-75 South from U.S. 50 to Third Street have been shifted to the right. The lane shift will be in place for approximately four months, and traffic will be maintained in all lanes.
Navigating the I-75 Ramp Closure
With the ramp closure in place, drivers from eastbound U.S. 50 can access I-75 South by following Fifth Street into downtown, then turn right (south) onto Race Street and left (west) onto Third Street to the on ramp to southbound I-75.
About the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project
The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project is one of the nation’s most significant transportation transformations, spanning eight miles of I-71/75 in Kentucky and I-75 in Ohio. Construction will begin with the new companion bridge to the west of the Brent Spence Bridge and one mile of approach work in each state.
In addition to the new bridge, the project will redesign ramp configurations throughout the corridor; and add new pedestrian and bicycle connections linking neighborhoods to jobs and transit. This once-in-a-generation investment will strengthen national freight movement, support local businesses and workforce growth, and enhance quality of life for the millions who rely on this critical corridor.
