The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun a comprehensive improvement project at the I-75 interchanges for Sumter Boulevard (Exit 182) and Toledo Blade Boulevard (Exit 179) in North Port.
Construction activities will include early-stage work such as conduit installation and preparation for drilled shaft implementation. Motorists should anticipate the following traffic impacts, subject to weather and subsurface conditions:
- Lane closures on I-75 ramps from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
- Full ramp closures between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
- Single lane closures on Sumter Boulevard and Toledo Blade Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Double lane closures from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Upon completion, expected in early 2027, the project will deliver enhanced traffic flow and safety through upgraded signalization, additional lanes, improved pedestrian crosswalks, and optimized roadway lighting.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution, remain attentive to construction personnel, and comply with posted traffic controls.
