The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming ramp closure on Interstate 71/75 in Kenton County on Thursday, August 27. Crews will block a ramp as part of an ongoing regional signage project for the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project.
On Thursday, August 27, beginning at 8:00 p.m., crews will block a single lane to the I-71/75 northbound exit off-ramp to I-275 eastbound and westbound (184.2 mile point). At 11:00 p.m., crews will block the entire off-ramp. Additionally, the exit on-ramp to I-275 from Commonwealth Avenue/Donaldson Road (KY 236) will be blocked during working hours. All traffic from KY 236 getting on the highway will be required to use the I-71/75 northbound portion of the ramp.
A signed detour will be in place utilizing I-71/75 northbound to Buttermilk Pike (KY 371). Motorists will exit left on to Buttermilk Pike and then left back on to I-71/75 southbound to I-275.
Weather permitting, all lanes and ramps will reopen by 5:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28. KYTC will advise if additional nights of work are needed for this portion of the project.
About the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project
The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project is one of the nation’s most significant transportation transformations, spanning eight miles of I-71/75 in Kentucky and I-75 in Ohio. Construction will begin with the new companion bridge to the west of the Brent Spence Bridge and one mile of approach work in each state. In addition to the new bridge, the project will restripe the existing Brent Spence Bridge to carry local traffic; improve safety and reduce congestion by separating local and through travel; redesign ramp configurations throughout the corridor; and add new pedestrian and bicycle connections linking neighborhoods to jobs and transit.
