The Florida Department of Transportation reports that the southbound I-75 rest area at mile marker 238 in southern Hillsborough County is now closed for construction work. Work on this $2.3 million project is estimated to be completed and the rest area reopened to the public in spring 2019.

Project work includes repaving the entrance and exit ramps, upgrading the restrooms and sidewalks, and improving lighting.

The entire rest area is closed to the public during construction. Motorists are not able to exit I-75 to the rest area property. Here is the information for the nearest southbound I-75 rest areas:

  • Next OPEN Rest Area: Mile marker 131 in Lee County (107 miles after the closed facility).
  • Rest Area open PRIOR to the closed Rest Area: Mile marker 278 in Pasco County (40 miles before the closed facility).
  • For truckers, there is a Weigh-In-Motion / Comfort Station in Charlotte County at Mile Marker 158 (80 miles after the closed facility).
