The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reports the following construction activities that will impact I-75 traffic in Oakland County and the Detroit metro area. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
Oakland County
Roadway rehabilitation is underway on southbound I-75 south of 9 Mile Road following damage sustained in a prior vehicle fire. The scope of work includes removal of compromised concrete pavement and subsequent replacement, necessitating extended lane reductions.
Effective 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 14, 2026:
Southbound I-75 from 12 Mile Road to 9 Mile Road will be restricted from five lanes to a single open lane, extending through the 8 Mile Road interchange. This configuration will facilitate full-depth concrete removal and placement. Upon initial set, two lanes will reopen for a curing period of approximately one week. The timing of this phase has been coordinated with the concurrent closure detailed below.
Detroit
As a reminder, northbound and southbound I-75 between McNichols Road and 7 Mile Road will be fully closed this weekend to accommodate demolition of the Savannah/Oakland Avenue bridge over I-75, located immediately north of Nevada Avenue.
Closure period: 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, through 5:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026.
All traffic will be diverted to the adjacent service drives.
Northbound I-75 detour: Exit at McNichols Road onto northbound I-75/Chrysler Service Drive, proceed to the 7 Mile Road ramp, and re-enter northbound I-75.
Southbound I-75 detour: Exit at 7 Mile Road onto southbound I-75/Chrysler Service Drive, proceed to the McNichols Road ramp, and re-enter southbound I-75.
The following ramps will also be closed during this period:
- Caniff Road ramp to northbound I-75
- Eastbound and westbound M-8/Davison ramps to northbound I-75
- McNichols Road ramp to northbound I-75
- M-102 (8 Mile Road) ramps to southbound I-75
- 7 Mile Road ramp to southbound I-75
