The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that as of October 22, 2026, both I-75 expansion segments through the Ocala area are under construction. FDOT currently lists early 2029 completion for both. Hereโ€™s the breakdown:

ProjectCurrent statusEstimated completion
South: south of SR 44 to SR 200 โ€” 23 milesAuxiliary-lane and bridge work underway. Construction began in February 2025. Current construction cost: $257 million.Early 2029
North: SR 200 to SR 326 โ€” 8 milesConstruction began November 3, 2025. Current activities include excavation, embankment work, milling and resurfacing. Construction cost: $242 million.Early 2029

Whatโ€™s Being Added:

These I-75 construction projects will add one auxiliary lane in each direction between interchanges, along with bridge replacements and interchange improvements. These are ramp-to-ramp lanes intended to improve merging and traffic flowโ€”not express lanes.

Related Ocala Project:

The new NW 49th Street diverging-diamond interchange is also under construction. FDOT lists a $59.4 million construction cost and fall 2028 completion.

Major current disruption: The SW 66th Street bridge over I-75 is closed for reconstruction until mid-June 2027. Traffic crossing the interstate is being directed to the SW 43rd Street Road bridge. Overnight interstate lane closures are also occurring as construction advances.
