Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will continue construction activities related to the I-16/I-75 Interchange Improvement Project in Macon-Bibb. Weather and on-site conditions permitting, the scheduled activities through January 6, 2023, are listed below.
Tuesday, January 3 (Overnight 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning)
- Traffic will be paced to slower travel speeds on I-75 southbound between SR 74/Mercer University Drive and the I-75/I-16 interchange to provide safety for drivers and workers as crews install lighting and paint bridge beams.
Wednesday, January 4 ā Friday, January 6 (Overnight 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following mornings)
- One left lane will be closed on I-75 northbound between SR 74/Mercer University and US 41/Forsyth Street and the exit ramp to I-16 eastbound as crews work on the overpass bridge.
- When crews complete work in the left lane, the closure will shift to one right lane in the same location, same overnight hours.
Ongoing, Long-term Closures:
- The far right lane of I-75 northbound at the Georgia 19/Georgia Avenue exit (exit 164) is closed to traffic for several months.
- Spring Street’s far right lane at the I-16 westbound on-ramp as well as the right-hand on-ramp to I-16 westbound are both closed for several months; the Spring Street on-ramp to I-16 westbound has been relocated to the far left lane.
