Drivers traveling on I-75 through Dayton and nearby communities should plan for construction-related lane restrictions, traffic shifts and ramp closures this fall. This October–November 2026 update from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) outlines scheduled roadwork in Montgomery and Warren counties, including overnight work hours and detour routes, to help you prepare for your trip. Schedules may change due to weather or construction progress, so check current traffic conditions before heading out.
Interstate 75 Rehabilitation in Dayton(S.R. 4 / Needmore Road)
I-75 will be reconstructed between S.R. 4 and Needmore Road. I-75 will experience major reconstruction including a traffic pattern shift, ramp closures, and lane restrictions in each direction. This project includes rehabilitation and installation of new pavement. Estimated completion: Summer 2027.
Interstate 75 Lane Shift – Southbound I-75 will remain in its current pattern. This pattern is expected to remain through early November 2026.
Interstate 75 Lane Closures – Expect overnight intermittent lane closures on I-75 in each direction between Needmore Road and Leo Street through November 2026. Lane closures will be nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Crews will be completing roadwork and as needed repairs as part of the ongoing reconstruction project.
Wagner-Ford Road Ramp Closure – The Ramp from Wagner-Ford Road to I-75 South will be closed through Fall 2026. This closure is necessary to reconstruct I-75 in this area. Detour: Wagner Ford Road to Keowee/N. Dixie Dr. to Needmore Road to I-75 South
Interstate 75 Rehabilitation Warren County / Montgomery County
ODOT proposes to widen Interstate 75 from three lanes in each direction to four lanes in each direction, from (approximately) the Pennyroyal Lane Bridge in Warren County to (approximately) the Lyons Road Bridge in Montgomery County. Estimated completion: Summer 2029.
Interstate 75 Lane Restrictions – I-75 in both directions will be subject to overnight lane restrictions between Lyons Road and Pennyroyal Road from 7:30 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. through November 2026.
Interstate 75 Lane Shift – Expect three lanes onI-75 North between Lyons Road and Pennyroyal Road. Northbound traffic will shift to the exterior (right) side of the roadway. The left lane on I-75 South is reduced to 11’. This traffic pattern will be in place through Spring 2027.
Interstate 75 Lane Restriction – I-75 at Alex Bell Road will be subject to lane restrictions between from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. through October 2026. Crews will be repairing the roadway/bridge.
