The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that reconstruction of the I-75 rest areas in Butler County is set to begin, and both north and southbound facilities will be closed next week.
Located just south of the S.R. 63 exit at Monroe, the I-75 North and South rest areas will be closed Monday, July 7, for a full replacement. The project is part of a statewide initiative to update 36 rest areas with all new buildings.
The project will include constructing new, lodge-style buildings with larger rest rooms and a lobby area with vending and regional tourism information; attached and covered outdoor picnic areas; and additional parking.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026. Once the rest areas are closed, the nearest facilities for southbound motorists are located near Florence, Ky., off I-71. In Ohio, the closest facilities for northbound motorists will be those located in Hancock County, south of Findlay.
