It’s the most wonderful time of year as Christmas Underground – A Journey to the North Pole returns now through December 23 to Ruby Falls.

Named a 2019 Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, Christmas Underground is close home but a world away through a hidden cavern passage, imaginatively transformed into an interactive holiday wonderland.

A 27-foot tall decorated Christmas tree, along with twinkling lights draping the historic castle, venues and landscape are a festive prelude to Christmas Underground where Santa is preparing for the season of joy. Follow a secret passage to the North Pole, discover a glittering ice cave and Ruby Falls’ own aurora borealis, play in snow flurries, see Penguin Park, Polar Creek and Sugar Plum Fairy Village, stroll along Main Street’s whimsical child-size shops, find a keepsake geode, and look out for the Joystone Express model train making its way through a miniature replica of Ruby Falls Village and Joystone City. Best of all, visit with Santa in his cozy grotto. A digital photo with Santa is included with admission. Holiday lights and displays illuminate the cavern.

TreeTops Winter Lodge returns Saturdays and Sundays in December featuring a tasty selection of holiday treats and hot cocoa. Relax in the holiday-themed Lodge with table seating or gather around the fireplace enjoying views of the Cumberland Plateau and share a heartfelt holiday wish on the Christmas Wish Tree.

Purchasing timed-entry tickets online in advance is recommended for best availability. Tickets are $16.95 for ages 3 and up and includes a personal visit with Santa, free digital photo with Santa, keepsake geode and all event activities.

Ruby Falls offers the add-on option of combining a Christmas Underground visit with a separately ticketed Classic Waterfall Tour at a discounted admission price.
