The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that a major bridge restoration project expected to begin soon on I-75 in Fayette County.
The $1.4 million project is located on the I-75 bridge over David Fork of Elkhorn Creek near mile point 110.5. The work is intended to preserve the bridge deck and extend the service life of the bridge.
Work is expected to begin Thursday, June 18, weather permitting. The project will be completed in phases and will include changing traffic shifts and lane closures as work progresses.
The initial phase of work is expected to include left/fast lane closures at mile point 110.5 on I-75 southbound and I-75 northbound. All traffic impacts will be announced in advance as work progresses.
The estimated completion date is September 1, 2026.
Motorists should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Drivers should watch for signage and personnel in the area.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
