The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) report that contractors for the Mill Creek Expressway widening project are preparing to move into the next phase of construction and will be shifting southbound I-75 traffic through the work zone during the overnight hours beginning this Friday, September 11.
Friday, September 11:
- Single-lane closure on I-75 South, between S.R. 126/RRCC and S.R. 562/Norwood Lateral interchanges, beginning at 8:00 p.m. followed by a double-lane closure at 11:00 p.m.
- Closure of the ramp from I-75 South to Paddock Road, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
- Closure of the ramps from eastbound and westbound S.R. 126/RRCC to I-75 South beginning at 10:00 p.m.
- Closure of the ramp from Galbraith Road to I-75 South beginning at 10:00 p.m.
- All ramps, including the ramp from Paddock Road to I-75, should reopen by 9 a.m. Saturday, September 12.
- One lane of the double-lane closure will be reopened by 9:00 a.m. Saturday, with all restrictions lifted by 5:00 p.m.
Once the double-lane closure goes into effect, all southbound traffic will be shifted to the contraflow lane during the overnight hours.
After the traffic switch has been implemented and restrictions have been lifted, southbound motorists will be traveling in two lanes shifted to the right on new and existing pavement so that construction can begin in the middle and left lanes.
The southbound contraflow lane along the northbound alignment to the far left will remain open, and northbound I-75 motorists will continue to travel in the current configuration of three lanes, shifted to the right.
This $86.8 million project began in the spring of 2025, is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2029.
