The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) reports that construction for the I-75 widening project from Paris Pike (U.S. 68) to the Southern Split in Lexington will require lane closures on I-75 northbound and southbound Sunday, April 26 thru Thursday, April 30. Motorists should expect delays or seek alternate routes. The temporary closure will allow for overheard sign truss installation.
Sunday, April 26
- At 7:00 p.m., the single left lane (between mile markers 113-115) on I-75 northbound will close. At 8:00 p.m., the single right lane (between mile markers 115-114) and double right lane (between mile markers 114-113) on I-75 southbound will close. All lanes will reopen by 5:00 a.m. Monday.
Monday, April 27
- At 7:00 p.m., the single left lane (between mile markers 111-113) on I-75 northbound will close. At 8:00 p.m., the double right lane (between mile markers 113-111) on I-75 southbound will close. All lanes will reopen by 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Tuesday, April 28
- At 7:00 p.m., the single left lane (between mile markers 110-111) on I-75 northbound will close. At 8:00 p.m., the double right lane (between mile markers 111-110) on I-75 southbound will close. All lanes will reopen by 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday, April 29
- At 7:00 p.m., the double right lane (between mile markers 116-118) on I-75 northbound will close. All lanes will reopen by 5:00 a.m. Thursday.
Thursday, April 30
- At 7:00 p.m., the double right lane (between mile markers 116-115) on I-75 southbound will close. All lanes will reopen by 5:00 a.m. Friday.
All lanes will reopen by 5:00 a.m. the following mornings. Law enforcement officers will be present to direct traffic.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-75/I-64 Southern Split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-75/I-64 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
